This nationally recognised safeguarding qualification is designed for early years practitioners who hold, or aspire to hold, the role of Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO). It develops essential knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures and professional responsibilities, enabling you to confidently lead on safeguarding practice within early years settings such as nurseries, preschools and childminding environments.
Delivered through our flexible online learning platform, this course allows you to study around existing work and personal commitments, with full tutor support and expert guidance throughout your learning journey.

Unit 03 Following safeguarding and welfare requirements in an early years setting (F/651/2483)
Upon successful completion, you’ll be fully qualified to work as an:
Early years designated safeguarding officer
Safeguarding trainer
Entry Requirements
To enrol on the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Technical Specialist for Designated Safeguarding Officers in EarlyYears (Award) (610/4504/4) learners must meet the following criteria:
General Requirements:
Aged 16 years or over
A good standard of written and spoken English
Basic literacy and numeracy skills
A genuine interest in working within safeguarding
Already be working in a setting
Additional Requirements:
A valid Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required to work with children
You must have access to a placement supervisor or mentor who can support and confirm your competence in the workplace
Please Note:
Evidence from your placement will be used to support your assessments, including direct observations, witness testimonies, and reflective practice. Without a placement, you will not be able to meet the full qualification requirements.
